Senior Underwriter
Execute all dental underwriting functions necessary to support the partner plan. Work will be performed within the parent company medical underwriting unit, while making all workflow distinctions as seamless as possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Independently execute all new business and renewal underwriting functions on dental business, as assigned.
2. Cultivate a productive working environment between underwriting and sales teams promoting dental.
3. Maintain a flexible workflow in order to integrate into the parent company medical work environment as seamlessly as possible.
4. Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with all parent company underwriters and management.
5. Learn all aspects of parent company technical tools, and their application to dental underwriting.
6. Provide Risk Management (dental actuarial) ongoing assessments and updates on effectiveness of such tools.
7. Identify formal underwriting workflow with Dental Sales Directors. Perform analyses of group experience, demographics and other measures to determine required premium levels. Review group characteristics to ensure compliance with corporate underwriting guidelines, recommending exceptions under special circumstances. Prepare exhibits and presentations as required.
8. Support the formal RFP process by providing questionnaire responses or completion of underwriting-related exhibits.
9. Act as technical lead in corporate projects ranging from the development of new products to the design of new sales incentive plans.
10. Institutionalize/maintain competitive intelligence for rates, plan designs and producer compensation programs.
11. Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies.
12. Maintain complete confidentiality of company business.
13. Maintain communication with management regarding development within areas of assigned responsibilities and perform special projects as required or requested.


Requirements:

Bachelors degree.
* 5 years group underwriting in health and/or dental experience.
* Knowledge of medical or dental products.
* Experience with rating methodologies applicable to all group health products.
* Good presentation skills.
* Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
* PC skills in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
